Once again this year, for many Canadians, tax season comes with a lot of questions, uncertainties and sometimes stress: meeting deadlines, gathering the necessary documents, avoiding mistakes... not to mention the risk of fraud, which is particularly prevalent at this time of year.
With this in mind, we are rolling out a new communications campaign that will run throughout tax season to guide and support group retirement savings plan members.

Main campaign topics Why you should file your income tax return We will explain to plan members the importance of filing a return, even if the process may seem complicated. Communications will include information on deadlines, the usefulness of taxes, the documents needed to file a complete return and the possible consequences of late filing or omission. (Article on tax returns) Tax season | Fraud alert! At this particularly fraud-prone time of year, we’ll be giving plan members the tools they need to recognize some common fraud schemes, stay alert to new threats and know what to do if they believe they’re the victim of a fraud attempt. (Article on fraud) Optimizing your tax refund We will offer plan members who are eligible for a tax refund five ideas on how to leverage this money strategically to improve their financial health.
