MFS Investment Management names a new portfolio manager for its U.S. equity core strategy

Group Savings and Retirement May 20, 2021

We would like to inform you that MFS Investment Management (MFS) has decided to promote its analyst Jude Jason to the title of portfolio manager for its U.S. equity core and core concentrated strategies. Mr. Jason will join the portfolio management team comprised of Kevin Beatty, Ted Maloney and Alison O’Neill. Furthermore, it was also announced that Mr. Maloney will drop his portfolio management duties for these strategies on May 1, 2023.

Reminder: It was announced in June 2020 that Kevin Beatty would retire on September 30, 2021.

Mr. Jason joined MFS in 2012 as an equity analyst after completing his MBA at Harvard. He also has over five years of experience in private equity and investment banking.

The promotion of Mr. Jason is in line with the firm’s practice of promoting its best analysts to portfolio management roles. This announcement was predictable considering Kevin Beatty’s imminent retirement. The news of Ted Maloney’s departure as a portfolio manager was also expected as Mr. Maloney was promoted to CIO of MFS on January 1, 2019.

Since this transition has been thoroughly planned for a certain time and will happen gradually over the coming years, we are convinced that it will go down smoothly. This process is also in line with the structured succession planning at MFS.
