Podcast | The financial challenges of immigration

Group Savings and Retirement July 18, 2024

The latest episode of In Your Interest! podcast covers the financial challenges of immigration. This is a subject that deserves exploration now more than ever, as estimates suggest that the proportion of Canadians with an immigrant background could reach 34% of the population by 20411.

Our Chief Strategist and Senior Economist, Sébastien Mc Mahon, discusses the financial challenges of immigration with Dave Yadav, Education Specialist in Group Benefits and Retirement Solutions and whose family arrived in Canada in the late 1950s.

A sweeping study undertaken by Léger shows that only 59% of those who settle in Canada find work in their field of study or expertise and that 84% find the cost of living to be higher than anticipated. That’s why it’s in our interest to support them with information, advice and resources.
