Eveline stressed that obesity management can make a difference and may lead to lower long-term costs to the organization by reducing disability claims and absenteeism and increasing employee engagement. She covered the eight steps to design a weight management program providing a human approach and simplified experience to both plan sponsors and employees.
Insights were also shared into the evolving roles of employers and insurers, particularly in disability management, exploring how they can better serve members and optimize group insurance plans.

Mental Health Summit
Robert Cross, Senior Director, Claims and Contact Centres, was a guest speaker at Benefits Canada’s virtual event on June 10.
Robert Cross Our expert shared ideas and strategies for creating effective workplace accommodation frameworks for employees returning to work following a disability. He emphasized that these frameworks need to comply with applicable regulations and contractual obligations and should be updated regularly. Additionally, Robert highlighted that these frameworks address the challenges employees face and provided key benefits for both employees and employers. The session covered strategies to support sustainable return-to-work processes following a disability, along with ways to foster an inclusive and supportive environment for all employees. Practical tips were shared for employers, such as the importance of effective collaboration and communication, to help ensure successful return-to-work outcomes. The presentation also explored ways to improve organizational mental health practices and foster a more inclusive workplace culture, with our speaker noting that employers may not always be aware of an employee’s mental health condition. In addition to participating in these two events, we maintain a strong presence at several others, including the HRPA Wellness Conference held on June 5, where we were a proud sponsor. This ongoing involvement allows us to continue sharing our expertise and engaging with industry professionals, strengthening our position as a market leader.
