Communication | Overcoming challenges with support from our expert
Group Insurance November 20, 2025The 2025 Benefits Canada Healthcare Survey highlights the need to better inform group insurance plan members about the value of their plans, a key component of their employee benefits.
It also reveals that 10% of plan members say they do not understand their plan's coverage, and this percentage rises to 28% among those who rate the quality of their plan as unsatisfactory (perhaps because they do not understand it very well).
In addition, 72% of plan members are open to receiving targeted communications from the insurer about their health, based on their claims history.
| The Benefits Canada survey also highlights that many plan sponsors and experts see effective plan communication as a significant challenge and an opportunity for improvement. |

Our expert Josée Plante, Practice Leader, Communications and Copywriting, Group Benefits and Retirement Solutions, gave a training session at an October event organized by the Association de la retraite et des avantages sociaux du Québec (ARASQ) to help plan sponsors address their communication challenges.
As part of the training program Group Insurance – Part 2: Practical aspects and application, Josée addressed various aspects of communication related to group insurance plans: from defining clear and specific communication objectives to developing communication strategies and plans, including concrete examples of communication campaigns that have generated positive and tangible results for organizations.
She also demonstrated how understanding the fundamental principles of communication campaigns, applying them correctly, and most importantly, planning campaigns properly, helps maximize their effectiveness.
