Overweight, obesity and weight loss treatments are hot topics in the news, in the general population, and in the group insurance industry. The introduction last May of WEGOVY as an adjunct to diet and increased physical activity for weight management is no exception to this trend, and has aroused a lot of interest among our clients. Indeed, new weight management drugs always raise questions and hopes.

For us, preserving the physical and mental health of plan members through continued access to a comprehensive plan, while promoting the long-term viability of drug insurance plans, is an integral part of our vision.

That's why, for the health of our plan members, we recommend that treatments for obesity and weight management be covered by drug plans, based on pre-established criteria.

Our team of drug management specialists is currently assessing the impact of WEGOVY coverage which includes its therapeutic value for plan members, the associated financial risks, and the potential impact on the long-term costs of our clients' group plans.

So, although we don't yet cover WEGOVY, we plan to do so this fall for plans offering coverage of weight management drugs, at additional cost. We'll also soon be able to present management solutions for groups that already cover, or would like to cover, weight management drugs.
