Grand défi Pierre Lavoie | Our team gets the kids moving

Top stories May 16, 2024

The schoolyard at Cœurs-Vaillants elementary school in Quebec City was buzzing with excitement on May 1. And with good reason: our cycling team is raising funds for the school as part of the 1,000 km Grand défi Pierre Lavoie (GDPL) challenge and visited the students to get them moving and dancing.

Approximately 500 children in grades one through six danced to the music together with our team. The activity served as a kick-off for the GDPL, whose objective is to raise awareness among young people about the importance of healthy lifestyles.

Every year, approximately 1,200 cyclists join the spectacular 1,000 km challenge, during which each will ride an average of 400 km over three days and two nights. This year marks our second time participating in the GDPL, which will take place from June 14 to 16 in Quebec City.

Our team sets an ambitious goal

Our team, made up of Mathieu Bujold, Krystel Duchesne, Frédéric Leblanc, Marie-Pier Pouliot and Judith Raymond, from the Group Benefits and Retirement Solutions team, has set a goal of raising $20,000 in donations.

A portion of the funds raised will help support research on orphan hereditary diseases. Another portion will be given to the Cœurs-Vaillants school. Last year, we donated $4,500 to this school to fund projects aimed at adopting healthy lifestyles.

Our participation in this important event is in line with iA’s ambition to be present and active in the lives of Canadians to promote their financial, physical and mental wellbeing.
