Empowering plan members: A collaborative approach to strengthening financial wellbeing
Group Savings and Retirement July 17, 2025In an article entitled Empowering Plan Members: A Collaborative Approach to Strengthening Financial Wellbeing published in June in The Observer, the magazine of the Association of Canadian Pension Management (ACPM), Kenrick Hopkinson, Director, Specialized Services and Support to Client Relationship, Group Benefits and Retirement Solutions, explores ways of empowering group retirement savings plan members through a collaborative approach between plan sponsors, advisors and providers.
In it, Mr. Hopkinson demonstrates that long-term financial success depends not only on a good understanding of the plans and tools available, but also on the active involvement of individuals in their savings journey. He proposes a series of concrete initiatives for achieving this goal: training tailored to specific life stages, multi-channel distribution of information, the use of microlearning and the integration of comprehensive health and wellbeing support services.
The article stresses the importance of adapting content to various profiles and learning styles and of creating space for discussions between peers to strengthen feelings of belonging and motivation. Finally, it highlights the key role of continuous evaluation and feedback in adjusting the strategies put in place.
The article offers a nuanced and pragmatic vision of financial support in the workplace. To find out more about what we can do to help your clients, read the full article on the ACPM website.
